Chapter 05b
Eco sleep
Eco sleep is the power-friendly desk mode: the sign can blank itself after a stretch of inactivity and/or during a nightly quiet window, then wake when you open the configuration UI, send a USB command, or show a notification.
Settings
| Key | Meaning | Default |
|---|---|---|
display.eco_sleep_enabled | Master switch | false |
display.eco_sleep_inactivity_min | Minutes idle before blank (0 turns inactivity off) | 30 |
display.eco_sleep_night_enabled | Use a nightly blank window | false |
display.eco_sleep_night_start_hour | Local hour the nightly window begins | 22 |
display.eco_sleep_night_end_hour | Local hour the nightly window ends | 6 |
Configure from SoftAP Display, or USBsettings set … / save. Status fieldeco_asleep appears on SoftAP/STA health and USBstatus.
Night dim vs eco sleep
Night dim only lowers brightness between its hours — the clock and countdown stay visible. Eco sleep blanks the panel entirely. You can use both: while awake inside night-dim hours the ceiling still applies; while asleep the panel is dark.
Wake paths
- Open the SoftAP or STA configuration UI (or call the HTTP API).
- USB: any command, or explicitly
display wake. - Show a notification — notifies always wake so messages are not hidden.
- OTA progress overlays also wake the panel.
- Physical control button short press wakes when blanked (otherwise advances the playlist).
